Indriya's Features

Description : A saree with a unique design is a priced posession. Kanchi pure handloom pattu in a striking combination of 'Ennai Pacchai' color or Green with dark undertones and gold with contrasting small malli moggu (jasmine flower buds) motifs in light 'Paneer roja' or rose bud pink is a visual treat.

The saree has the heritage weave design of "Vanasingaram" or the artisanal depiction of the beauty of a forest. There are intricate handwoven real pure 3 grams gold zari ( has resale value) motifs, depicting the flora and fauna of a forest. Animals (such as deer, elephant, horse, tiger and birds like peacock), flowers and creepers have been designed and woven by hand.

The motifs have been arranged in a unique, contemporary, edgy, cascading steps design, so when draped, the golden motifs shimmer so elegantly.

The light pink malli moggu buttas are in top half of the saree and the border is elegant thin zari lines.

When seen together the colors offer a striking contrast while the matt finish real gold zari shimmers gently.

The Vanasingaram design is inspired by the Shikargah design that is found in Weaves from Banaras. The theme of replicating the beauty of a forest and nature is common to both these styles. The method of depiction alone varies.

The saree is an exclusive design collectors find. For sure all eyes will be on you when you drape this unique, striking combination.

Style your pretty kanchi with handmade navratna temple jewlery and be the showstopper of the occassion.

The blouse worn by the model is for styling purposes and can be purchased separately. Saree has running blouse material in light pink with gold malli moggus and a small gold vanasingaram border.

About Kanchivaram/Kanchipuram

Popularly known as the “City of Silk” and the “City of 1000 temples”, Kanchipuram, is located 70 km away from Chennai and is famous for its handwoven silk sarees with delicate zari work. It is considered to be one of the seven sacred cities in India, as it houses more than 1000 temples.

A tradition that is more than 150 years old, the story of Kanchipuram silk saree begins in Hindu Mythology. Legend has it that Kanchi weavers are descendants of Sage Marakanda, who was considered to be the master weaver for the Gods themselves. The early weavers of Kanchipuram were from two major communities of Andhra Pradesh, the Devangas and Saligars, who migrated to the town of Kanchipuram. They used their excellent skills to make sarees that bore the images of the sculptures and figurines found in temples, around the village.

The acclaim for GI tagged Kanchivaram sarees is purely for its special weaving technique that has mulberry silk of 18-20 denier 4 ply silk in the warp and 6 ply in the weft, twisted together with zari (a silk thread twisted with a thin silver wire and gilded with pure gold) to create sarees which are usually stronger and more lustrous that other silk sarees.

Kanchi silk sarees are known for their artisanal contrast borders, intricate designs inspired by royalty, nature and religion that is most commonly found in these striking borders.

When you buy a pure silk, fine zari handwoven saree, you are actually adopting a piece of Indian cultural heritage into your world.
