Description

An elegant shad of exotic purple orchids and gold is such a striking Indian ethnic combination. When made in delicate hand Bandhej with intricate 'Baarik' or fine naksi motifs and a timeless traditional chequered design, makes this traditional pure gajji silk saree a traditional and exquisite saree to drape.

The pure soft lustrous Gajji silk flows so fluidly, drapes and frames the body so lovingly. The purple contrasts elegantly against the matt finish zari in the chequered pattern of the saree.  The gold lagdi patta shines gently and adds some gentle bling to the drape.

Butter soft lustrous pure gajji silk is so fluid and cool upon touch and a pleasure to drape. Saree has a running blouse.  We also make blouses and would be happy to make one for you.

About Bandhej/Bandhani

The term `Bandhani` is derived from the word `Bandhan` that means tying up. It is an ancient art practise that is mainly used in the state of Gujarat and Rajasthan. Some 5000 years ago Indian Tie & Dye or Bandhani was started. Places in Rajasthan like Jaipur, Sikar, Bhilwara, Udaipur, Bikaner, Ajmer, and Jamnagar in Gurjarat are the well known centres producing odhnis, sarees and turbans in Bandhani.

The art of Bandhana is a highly skilled process. The technique involves dyeing a fabric which is tied tightly with a thread at several points, thus producing a variety of patterns like Chandrakala, Bavan Baug, Shikari etcetera; depending on the manner in which the cloth is tied. The main colour used in Bandhana are yellow, red, blue, green and black. The smaller the knots the more time consuming the craft and hence price is a function of the design and quality of knots.

The main colours used in Bandhana are natural. As Bandhani is a tie and dye process, dying is done by hand and hence best colours and combinations are possible in Bandhanis.
